The coastal areas of Massachusetts and Rhode Island attract birds and Laser systems are the most effective way to deter these birds and avoid severe PV soiling from bird guano. Birds find the space under the solar panels highly attractive for nesting which leads to high soiling levels on the panels. Long-lasting bird poop on panels eventually creates hotspots and reduces the life of the PV module.
